Elton House Lodging Option

While 3-/4-star accommodations are included in the pricing of the trip, as an additional experience, we are offering an option for up to 10 travelers to stay at a Georgian townhouse for the four nights we are in Bath during our tour.  The Elton House is a Landmark Trust Property located right in the center of Bath, overlooking Abbey Green, and has a history of welcoming visitors from afar who sought either the waters or the social scene of the town.

Those travelers interested in staying at the Elton House must first put down a full payment for their portion of the Elton House lodging ($145.08/person)This payment is separate from the tour total that is payable to the tour company and is not part of the initial deposit required to reserve your space in the group trip.   Information on how to reserve the Elton House will be posted shortly.

The price of the tour will include transportation and accommodation in 3- or 4-star hotels (based on double occupancy) for the duration of our trip, daily breakfast, entry fees for all excursions and activities, and a tour manager throughout.  (Participants are responsible for their own transportation to and from the UK as well as to/from the airport.)  Pricing is subject to meeting a required number of participants for this trip. In the unlikely event that we do not meet those numbers, the overall price of the trip will increase.  (On the other hand, exceeding the number required will result in a decrease in price.)  Please notice that prices are listed in GBP (not US$) and are payable directly to the tour company.

Frequently Asked Questions

How can I get the latest information on the group trip to the UK?

We will be sending out more information about the trip to those people who have registered with the travel company at this point.  If you would like to join the trip, please contact us at info@varegency.org so that we can determine if there is still availability.  After you have registered, you will automatically be added to our mailing list and receive updates about the tour.

Do I need to be a member of the RSV in order to join the trip?

No.  Anyone is welcome to join us as part of the trip.

Will people be wearing period attire during the trip?  Is it welcome?

While we would never discourage those who wish to wear period attire from doing so, we also understand that an early 19th century wardrobe for an entire week tends to take up more space than the baggage limits of even an international flight would allow.  We don't anticipate that most people will bring period garments for the bulk of the trip and we certainly would not require than any be brought.  If you are inclined to wear your Regency era duds, however, they are welcome.  We are encouraging people who would like to take the opportunity to wear period attire in England to do so during our Brighton Pavillion tea experience on day six.

I would love to come on  the trip but I'm not going to be able to make the initial deposit on time.  Can I make it at a later date?

If you wish to join the trip after the May 31, 2018 initial deposit deadline, places may still be available on a space-available basis.  Simply contact us at info@varegency.org so that we can find out from the tour company if you can be added to our group!

Is travel to/from the UK included in the price?

No.  All participants are responsible for airfare and transportation to Bath and from London.  All transportation during the trip, however, is included.

I see that the trip pricing is based on double occupancy but I would rather not share a room.  Is there a way that I can get a single room?

Yes.  Please request the "single supplement" when you make your deposit with the travel agency.  The cost is an additional £565 for those staying in the hotel in Bath and an additional £265 for those staying at the Elton House in Bath.

Where do I make my payments for the trip?

Payments for the tour can be made online through the travel agency, by phone (From the US: 011+44+800 298 0588), or with a check issued in British pounds posted to ECT Travel, Lorne House, 76 Lorne Road, Bath, Somerset, BA2 3BZ.
