While Virginia isn't well-known for her War of 1812 sites, one of the most significant actions in the Commonwealth during that conflict took place in June of 1813 at the Battle of Craney Island which prevented the British from taking Norfolk and Portsmouth. The Regency Society of Virginia has been invited by the Fort Norfolk Garrison, host unit for this event, to help show what life was like for the civilians of the area. The event will take place at historic Fort Norfolk, a 1790's fortification located in downtown Norfolk. Please register by June 16 so that we can keep you informed of any information regarding this event.
