Join us and our hosts, the Friends of Maryland's War of 1812, for a weekend at Harpers Ferry portraying civilian life during the War of 1812 in the program, "Defending Harpers Ferry During the War of 1812 - The Mustering Out of Captain Humphries' Company." This program will interpret events as they happened upon the return of the local militia company in September of 1814. The weekend will not only include firing demonstrations and military drill but a civic barbecue at the site of Williamson's Tavern complete with patriotic speeches from the town "elders," and a Star-Spangled Banner program on the Town Green. Period attire is required for this event. Registration must be completed no later than July 15 so that paperwork to participate may be completed and turned in by the end of July.
