Thank you to everyone who turned out for this year's Victory Ball.  We had fantastic attendance, despite illness keeping away several people.  A few of our guests joined us from outside of the Commonwealth (and many traveled a good distance within it to attend).  The music was excellent, the dancing was lively, and the company was superb.  If you attended and you have photos that you would like to add to our album on Facebook, please be sure to e-mail us at info@varegency.org or message us on Facebook itself.  To see pictures from the event, click here!

We're delighted to add yet another fabulous vendor to our growing list of Member-Friendly Merchants:  Miriam's Yarns & Fibers!  While you can get a wide range of natural fiber products from Miriam's, they are perhaps known best for their legendary "Sari Pile"--a veritable mountain of cotton and silk sari fabric just waiting to be made into gowns and more.  Members will be able to get a 10% discount by using the coupon code (found on the Member-Friendly Merchant page after logging into the RSV site) on anything listed.  Don't forget to show your membership card should you encounter them at events such as Jamestown's Military Through the Ages to get the same discount in person.  Thank you to Miriam's Yarns & Fibers for their generous support of the Regency Society of Virginia!

It's with great excitement that we announce the latest addition to the RSV family of Member-Friendly Merchants: Flying Heart Millinery!  Flying Heart specializes in hand-stitched 18th and early 19th century caps in a variety of shapes with styles and materials appropriate for both the working class impression and the lady of refined taste.  In addition to caps, however, Flying Heart offers period accessories such as mitts, handkerchiefs, hatpins, and more.  RSV members will be offered a 10% discount at Flying Heart Millinery with the use of the coupon code provided on the Member-Friendly Merchant page on the member side of the RSV site.  (Members, log in to the site to be able to access the page with the code.) Be sure to thank Flying Heart Millinery--and all our other Member-Friendly Merchants!--for their support of the Regency Society of Virginia by shopping and saving with them today!

Finally, Wild Apricot has released a version of the member app for Android phones!  (A version for iPhone has been out for some time.)  The app is available at no additional charge for RSV members and can be used to update your profile, register and pay for events, access your membership card, and check the directory on the go.  It's an easy way to see which events you've registered for already, too.  Simply download the app  and log in using the same e-mail and password that you would use to access the membership side of the RSV site.

Earlier this year, the Virginia Beach History Museums  cancelled a Hamilton-Burr Duel event and we are pleased to announce that they have rescheduled it for November 3.  The RSV has been asked to provide costumed volunteers to assist in getting to know the early 19th century through the clothes and games of the period.  If you would be interested in participating in this costumed-required event, we ask that you register no later than October 31.  For those wishing to simply attend to see the performance of the duel, please visit the Virginia Beach History Museum's site and purchase tickets ($12/person) to attend.

Active members of the Regency Society of Virginia can now post period-related items that they wish to sell, trade, or give away on a new page in the "Members Only" section of the website dubbed the "Member Marketplace."  For those members just getting started in the hobby (or for those just looking for a bargain!), we hope that this will be a great way of finding new and gently used goods to assist in your enjoyment of the period.  Clothing, fabric, accessories, books and more are welcome.  All we require is that the items posted are relevant to the period.  For more information about how you can post your items, contact us at info@varegency.org
