A block of rooms has been reserved at the Country Inn and Suites of Petersburg for those attending the ball.  The hotel is approximately three miles from the Country Club of Petersburg where we will be holding the ball.  You will be able to choose between a single King room ($90/night plus taxes) or a two-Queen bed suite ($110/night plus taxes).  If you would like to take advantage of the room block, please call the hotel directly at (804) 861-4355 no later than October 5 and request the "Victory Ball" rate.

If you plan on attending the Autumnal Picnic at the Francis Land House on September 9, please be aware that today is the last day that you can register for it.  Only those who register by the end of September 1 will have a tour of the c. 1805 house included.  You may still attend the picnic, of course, but you will be required to pay the museum admission fee in order to tour the home's interior.  (If you do miss the registration deadline, please e-mail us at info@varegency.org so that we will have a good handle on how many to anticipate will be in attendance.)

Instructions for our program of dances are now available to download from the Victory Ball main page.  Links to videos for some of our dances have also been posted so that you may watch other groups which have tackled these dances in the past.  (There may be some slight differences in the figures between the videos and our particular program, so please be aware of that as you watch!)

Have you purchased your ticket yet?  They are now available on the event listing.  There will be no sales at the door, so be sure to reserve your place before sales close on October 14.

Don't miss out on our Autumnal Picnic coming up on September 9!  Bring a period dish to pass and enjoy an afternoon of period games and pleasant company at the Francis Land House in Virginia Beach.  Everyone who registers by September 1 will have a tour of the c. 1805 manor included!  Both members and non-members are encouraged to attend and while period attire is encouraged, it is not required.  The event is FREE for RSV members and just $5/person for non-members.  For more information and to register, visit the event page.

Come one, come all!  You can now purchase tickets for our upcoming Victory Ball!

Included in your registration ($35/members, $45/non-members) is, of course, dancing (called once again by the incomparable "Mr. Charles Steplively") and live music (from Dean Herington and Becky Ross), refreshments, and a "crash course" dance practice the day of the event.  Both Regency and modern semi-formal attire are welcome, so don't let the lack of period duds keep you from joining us!

Registration closes October 14, so don't miss out!

Our Regency Tea was sold out but we have had a cancellation which means one lucky person who was unable to attend can now join us!  Just visit the event listing to register.  (And if someone beats you to it, you can still add your name to the waitlist should we have another cancellation between now and the event.  Just remember that we need you to register by July 30!

We've upgraded so that our mailing list is now integrated with our website.  That might not sound terribly exciting but having the two linked means that we can deliver information to you even more efficiently.

In order to continue to ensure that you receive information about upcoming events, we ask that you do the following:

MEMBERS: (Including those members whose dues have lapsed)  Please log in by clicking the "log in" button at the upper left-hand corner of the website and view your profile to ensure that the correct e-mail address is listed.  (Just FYI for those whose memberships have expired:  You'll still receive e-mails sent to our general mailing list however only current members will receive special updates sent out to active members.  If you would like to renew your membership, you can do so through your profile.)

NON-MEMBERS:  If you would like to continue to receive our e-mails, you will need to give us permission to send them to you by visiting the Subscribe page, filling in the required information, and clicking on "subscribe."

We're very much looking forward to spending an evening hearing a selection of early 19th century sea chanteys this Wednesday, June 14 at MacArthur Memorial Visitors Center.  Do join us for the FREE program, "Don't Forget Your Old Shipmates: Sailors and Sea Chanteys in the War of 1812."  Early 19th century attire is encouraged but not required.

The RSV will be helping out by providing some period-inspired finger foods for the reception afterwards and we are looking to augment what our volunteers have already committed to bringing.  If you are available and willing to assist us by bringing a finger food for the reception, please contact us as soon as possible at info@varegency.org.

We have also extended the deadline for registering for the Saturday, June 24 event commemorating the Battle of Craney Island.  Registration will now remain open until June 21 so that you may join us for our picnic on the grounds of Fort Norfolk.  Please do take advantage of the opportunity to spend a day in this often-overlooked Norfolk treasure!
