Thank you so much to all who came out to the Wells Theater to see the Virginia Stage Company's performance of Pride and Prejudice.  The production was excellent, the acting superb, and the experience unforgettable!  The bulk of our group attended in period attire which enhanced the atmosphere as fine gentlemen and elegant ladies arrived at the door.  One definitely got the sense of how going to the theater could become a "see and be seen" event!  We were delighted to make so many new acquaintances, too, and many RSV cards were handed out in hopes that more Janeites and Regencyphiles might join our number.  Within the theater itself, seats and boxes alike filled with folks in their Regency finery made it a feast for the eyes even before the curtain went up.  Afterwards, we were treated with being able to go up on stage and meet and congratulate the cast on a job well done.  Thanks again to the Virginia Stage Company and the Wells Theater for being so welcoming!  Be sure to check out the album from the evening on Facebook (no account is needed to view the photos).

We've set up a new page for our planned group visit to see the Regency sites in the UK in 2019!  Whether you're planning on joining us or just considering it for the moment, we'll be updating the UK Group Trip page regularly to provide a central place for you to get the most recent information regarding our "field trip."  Don't forget to register on our event listing as well to get e-mail updates about the tour.   We've just added our itinerary for the 8-day/7-night trip and we think that you'll be excited to see all the early 19th century highlights that we'll be exploring!  Be sure to check it out here!

We're looking for folks who are willing to put their creative writing skills to work in an effort to enhance the War of 1812 presentation that some of our members and friends will be participating in this year.   Download the instructions for writing a period letter here and let us know who you will be writing to as soon as possible so that we can ensure that everyone in the camp will get a letter.  Complete your letter(s) and return them to us no later than February 20.  It's really that simple!

Thanks in advance for your willingness to help!

Plans have been in the works for a group trip to the UK to experience Regency era sites with others who appreciate them and we are pleased to announce that we have set the date:  June 17-24, 2019.  Be sure to add your name to the event listing to get more information and to have updates sent directly to your inbox!  This trip is open to both RSV members and non-members.  Details will be forthcoming very soon!

We were so delighted with the turnout for our Twelfth Night dinner despite its having to be moved.  Our members and friends enjoyed a great deal of conversation, dancing--led by the most capable Mr. Charles Steplively, and an excellent meal followed by delicious and beautifully decorated Twelfth Cakes made by RSV member Kim Costa.  The evening concluded with one final dance...none other than a lively rendition of "Sir Roger de Coverley"!  Thank you to everyone who came out and contributed to a most convivial evening.  It was just as a Twelfth Night should be!

The following day, members and friends of the RSV gathered for a meeting that might have seemed as though it was of a more serious nature but was lighthearted in its own way.  Our annual members' meeting was held in Downtown Richmond.  We discussed the direction of the unit as well as upcoming events and event ideas.  Following the business portion of the meeting, attendees took advantage of our swap meet to find new-to-them items.  There were many smiling faces between those delighted with their new acquisitions and those delighted to make more room in their closets!  Be sure to watch our Events page, which will be updated soon to reflect our new calendar!

Don't miss out on a chance to get a first look at our 2018 event lineup and to take part in our now-annual swap meet!  We'll be gathering at the University of Richmond-Downtown campus building (located at 626 E. Broad Street, Suite 100, Richmond, VA)  to discuss the future of the Regency Society of Virginia.  This meeting is free and open to all--members and non-members, alike!  We'll be revealing our plans for the upcoming year (and beyond...can you say "Group trip to the UK in 2019"?) as well as taking suggestions from our membership on how the organization can better serve its members and purposes.  After the conclusion of business, we'll be hosting a swap meet. Bring clothing, accessories, books, fabric--anything with a Regency-period flavor to it!--to sell or trade to those who would truly appreciate them.  If you're new to this hobby (or this era), this is also a great opportunity to get deals on period-appropriate items.  (And for those of you who are attending our rescheduled Twelfth Night dinner, this is a great excuse to hang around the Richmond area afterwards!)

The courtesy of your RSVP is requested for this free event.  Click here to register and get more details.  Hope to see you there!

Because of the postponement, we know that many of our members and friends who were planning on joining us for our originally scheduled Twelfth Night dinner won't be able to be there this upcoming Saturday.  While we are very disappointed to lose their company, the new date may mean that some of you who were unavailable on the 6th actually are available for the 13th!  As such, we have REOPENED registration for our newly scheduled Twelfth (Twentieth?) Night through January 11.  We'll still have all the dancing, gaming, and excellent food and conversation that we were planning on having during the event with which the weather so uncooperatively interfered.  Check out the event listing to get more information and register to join us!  (And, given that our annual meeting will be held the following day in Richmond, consider spending the night in the area so that you can attend the annual meeting, too!)

Due to the poor road conditions near the event site and in many parts of the Commonwealth, the RSV has determined that the best course of action is to postpone our Twelfth Night dinner until the following Saturday, January 13.

If you registered for Twelfth Night and are still able to join us on the 13th, you don't have to do anything else.  If you registered and you cannot make it on the new date, please contact us as soon as possible at info@varegency.org to request a refund.  We will issue one within 30 days.

For those of you who could not make it on the 6th but are available on January 13, we are reopening registration!  Head over to the event listing and register by January 11 to join us for what promises to be a fun evening!

We are keeping a close eye on how travel may be impacted by yesterday's snow storm.  If you have registered for this event, please watch your e-mail, Facebook, text messages, and this website for any updates as to whether we will go forward with Saturday's festivities or postpone them to allow for road conditions to improve to the point where travel is safer.
