Join us for a day of creativity, fellowship, and sewing as we learn to make a Regency reticule!
Reticules were small purses, usually made from silk or cotton, and often personalized with embroidery and trim. These small bags ranged from the simple and utilitarian to fanciful confections with elaborate embroidery and trim.
RSV member Heather Hufton will guide you through the process of sewing and decorating a reticule. You will receive several of her original reticule patterns she has developed over the years through personal study of originals (and a lot of trial and error!)
Whether you want a simple bag for carrying your personal items to an event or a showstopper for the Jane Austen Festival ball, this workshop will set you on the path to creating the reticule you’ve always wanted!
Your registration fee includes the workshop, three printed patterns with instructions, and a selection of embroidery patterns Heather has adapted for use with her reticule patterns*.
Please note that this is a hand-sewing workshop.
Registrants who wish to embroider their reticule will receive the embroidery patterns by email in January, along with inspiration photos, a list of supplies for the workshop, and suggested suppliers. See inspirations now on Heather's Regency Reticule Pinterest Board: https://www.pinterest.com/shewhopaints/regency-purses-bags/
Water, ice tea and cookies will be provided. Please feel free to bring a lunch if you'd like.
