About this event
Join the RSV for our Spring Picnic. This year we will be holding a catered lunch on the grounds of Old Fort Comfort Lighthouse, located on the grounds of Ft. Monroe, in Hampton, VA.
Built in 1802 during the Presidency of Thomas Jefferson, the lighthouse stands tall on the southern edge of Old Point Comfort, a peninsula originally called “Cape Comfort” by Christopher Newport’s explorers in 1607. The lighthouse was occupied by British forces during the War of 1812 to be used as a key observation point.
No need to pack a picnic as we will be serving a catered lunch of sandwiches, salad, cookies and chips, including vegetarian options. NOTE: If you need a gluten free option please email us directly. Bottled beverages will be provided BUT bringing your own bottled water is RECOMMENDED, as is sunscreen.
After lunch we will be taking a short 10 minute walk to the Casemate Museum. If you wish you may drive to the museum directly on your own.
Regency finery is always encouraged but not necessary. Please bring something to sit on such as a blanket, beach chairs, folding chairs and so on. There is ample parking in the area of the lighthouse.
Registration will be open for ACTIVE MEMBERS only until March 1, 2027, at which time it will be open to everyone.
