We were delighted to see so many members at our annual business meeting and we unveiled a host of events--both virtual and in-person--for our membership to put on their calendars. While we are still waiting on a few details before we can post some of our hoped-for gatherings, many of them have already been listed on our event calendar.
While our
QuaranTeas debuted in 2020 out of necessity, they have been popular enough that we've determined to continue them. Be sure to join us the first Tuesday of every month for an informal (and informational!) chat about a variety of early 19th century topics!
Another addition thanks to our enforced separation from one another was our
Regency Book Club. We've announced a calendar of fiction and non-fiction books (
download the list here!) which cover a wide range of subjects. Like the QuaranTeas, our book clubs are free and open to all, regardless of RSV membership status.
We do recognize that 2021 will continue much the same way that 2020 ended, with very limited in person gatherings. To that end, we have arranged for several virtual workshops and social times--from a
"tour" of John Marshall's House in Richmond to a
Regency Murder Mystery night and with more on the way!
That said, we are holding out hope that as vaccines become more available and widely distributed, we may have some in-person events in our future. We'll be starting out with events that can be socially-distanced, such as our annual participation at
Bacon's Castle's Garden Party, but have included more ambitious events towards the end of the year, such as a trip to the
Grand Caverns (discovered in 1804) and the return of the
Victory Ball in the autumn!
Not every one of our events is currently posted but we hope that you will check out the
events calendar and add some of them to your own calendar soon. We look forward to seeing you this year--whether virtually or in person!
