New Volunteer Opportunities: Suffolk Regency "Passport to the Past"

Admin, Regency Society of Virginia | Published on 7/16/2021

We're looking for folks interested in bringing the Regency era to life for the City of Suffolk!  This year, Suffolk has decided to create a "Passport to the Past" with an early 19th century theme.  RSV members who are available to assist are encouraged to sign up on the volunteer opportunities page to let us know their willingness to support this effort.  Opportunities include:

  • Fashion Show (August 29) - We need ladies, gentlemen, and children interested in strutting their early 19th century style for a kick-off event.  Day and evening wear from 1790-1820 is sought as well as specialty clothing such as mourning and bridal attire.
  • RSV Informational Table (September 16, 23, and 30) - The Suffolk Center for Cultural Arts is planning three movie nights featuring "Pride & Prejudice," "Emma," and "Sense & Sensibility."  The Regency Society of Virginia has been invited to host a table which introduces the RSV to potential members before and after the movies.  Volunteers to staff these tables are needed!
  • Suffolk Public Library's Family Fun Day (October 2) - We're looking for volunteers to supervise various interactive stations during a Suffolk Public Library program geared towards families.  Stations include period clothing, dancing, games, and more.
If you are willing to help out at one or more of these events, please be sure to login and sign up at the volunteer opportunities linked above.  Not-yet-members interested in assisting are welcome to contact us via e-mail at info@varegency.orginfo@varegency.org for more information.
