The Regency Society of Virginia will offer the new publication in the style of Regency period"-Ish” magazine, that highlights RSV events, Regency/Federal interests, and member/friends and their fashions. Whilst we may blur the line between history and fiction, it is the hope at all times to maintain a casual but informed Regency-era tone and, fate willing, a dose of wit. The magazine strives to be informative and fun.

Not sure what to wear to the upcoming Victory/Masquerade Ball this coming October? Was there entertainment? Decorations? This informational get together will present information about what it was like to attend a Masquerade in the Regency period.

Don‘t miss out on one of the highlights of the RSV year! Join us for our annual Victory Ball. This year we will be hosting a Fancy Dress Masquerade—yes, that’s right! You get to wear a costume over your costume! Once again the event will be hosted at the beautiful Country Club of Petersburg. Delight in a varied program of early 19th century dances, stirring music, excellent food,
and (even if we do say it ourselves...) superb company.

Join the RSV for our annual 12th Night Party. This year we will gather together on Saturday, January 9, 2027 to celebrate the season with friends. Information on the site has not been finalized as of this date. Please check back in the fall of 2026 for more information.

Join us for our Annual Business Meeting on Sunday, February 7, 2027 starting at 2:00PM.

The meeting will cover the year in review, membership, finances, non-profit status, web site and upcoming programming for 2027.

We will have a chance to have a swap/sale after the meeting as well.

The meeting will be held via Zoom as well as in person.

Registration is helpful but not mandatory.

Renown author and collector Candice will give a history of the valentine card, focusing primarily on the Valentines during the Long Regency.

Hit the road with the RSV as we travel to Oxford, NC to take a class in hat making with Timely Tresses! In addition to the hands-on class we will be going for afternoon tea. This event will be open to members only. More information on what we will be making, costs and more to follow.

Join us for a catered picnic on the grounds of Old Fort Comfort Lighthouse, followed by a visit to the Casemate Museum.

We will be visiting the famous Natural Bridge State Park where we can view one of the most spectacular rock formations arguably in the world. There will also be the opportunity to visit waterfalls, caves or perhaps a picnic lunch. George Washington surveyed the area in 1750 and is rumored to have carved his initials into the limestone. In 1774, Thomas Jefferson purchased the bridge and 157 acres from King George III of England for 20 shillings. Jefferson called it "the most Sublime of nature‘s works" and built a small cabin on-site, employing a freed African American named Patrick Henry to act as the first caretaker and guide for travelers. During the Revolutionary War and War of 1812, the nearby Saltpeter Cave was mined for potassium nitrate to make gunpowder.
